SYDNEY

Highlands Recovery, a world-class institute of behavioural medicine and rehabilitation, has opened its doors. Located halfway between Sydney and Canberra, the luxury facility is now accepting residents who are dealing with trauma, addiction, and mental health disorders.

Led by CEO Cameron Francis and Clinical Director Resh Joseph MBBS, MSc, Highlands offers a residential program, exclusive accommodations, and comprehensive aftercare.

“Our mission is to be a world-class centre of excellence for the treatment of trauma and trauma-related disorders,” says Francis, who has set up an international advisory body to ensure access to the latest research and methodologies for trauma-related recovery.

Residents will experience individualised dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) with Joseph and his team. DBT has shown promising results in helping patients with suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviour, and addiction.

Joseph shared his recovery philosophy, explaining, “When you see past the behaviour, addiction is the sigh of an oppressed creature. Flowers of false consolation growing on a chain that binds us to our pain, our trauma, and our shame. True recovery seeks to break the chain, that we may live free from the need for false consolation.”

Residents receive clinical treatment six days a week, featuring personal yoga sessions, equine therapy, physical training, and somatic massage therapy to heal the mind, body, and soul for long-lasting recovery.

The residential program requires a minimum stay of 28 days, with options for semi-private or private accommodations. Limited availability ensures privacy and anonymity among residents. Highlands’ Aftercare Program extends for 12–24 months post-recovery, providing continued support as clients transition back into their daily lives.
