BOISE, Idaho

Proof Eyewear is headed to Pathamadai, India to inaugurate the opening of the Proof Eye Clinic. Since its start in 2010, the company has been involved with a variety of causes such as the Japan tsunami relief, child soldier rehabilitation in Africa, and most recently, teaming with the Aravind Eye Care Systems in India to construct a rural eye clinic to care for those in need lacking the resources to afford eye care. Giving back has always been a priority since the brand’s inception, as a portion of each sale has been set aside and saved since day one. Once the proceeds reached their goal of $25,000, Proof officially broke ground on the building of the eye clinic. Now, in August, Proof is preparing to travel, with Aravind, to meet the people that live in this area and for the official ribbon cutting and celebration of the opening. The Proof Eye Clinic in Pathamadai, India will serve about 75,000 people in this underserved area.

Proof is also announcing a Limited Edition release of their bestselling wood wallet and most popular frame of sunglasses, the Ontario, to coincide with the opening of the Eye Clinic and raise additional monies with 100% of the proceeds going to the clinic. 50 wallets and 50 sunglasses will be specially crafted and inscribed in Tamil, the local language specific to Pathamadai. Each can be translated to read, “More than one fourth of the world’s blind people live in India, help eliminate needless blindness. Do Good.” Click here to see the video.

Brooks Dame, Founder/CEO said the following regarding the India project. “Doing good has always been part of our business model. From the very beginning we wanted to give back, it was never an afterthought. We are humbled by our loyal customers who have made this a possibility.”
